Dear people, Dear donors,
Now we are a year latter when mankind was confronted with the biggest task of nature’s furry, from seaquake or Tsunami. But the story is still fresh, scars and cries of the victims are still fresh. Though I only saw a tip of an iceberg of that huge natural calamity.
Last year upon Christmas I was in Dharmshala doing small jobs when a big fire broke out in the market place there. Next day on Television I heard about Tsunami (it was such a sweet word to my ears) never I had heard about Tsunami. Well such a sweet word can turn up side down a part of the world, hardly I could imagine. I decided to go affected area with a group of people, with an intension may be I can also be of any use there. Upon seeing the depth of destruction and devastation there, I was confused thinking if I know the nature? I know nature in Himalayas being so careful and helpful with so much to offer. Amid the devastated land and its people teachings of H.H. Dalai Lama struck to my mind and teaching of Buddha’s hunt for salvation was on my mind. With those mixed feelings we started to do small jobs.
Mean while Lia started to collect monies in Holland with the help of all hose donors. I got the message, so I became Issa (Jesus Christ) in the land) without knowing what I am doing? I did made few promises or commitments with affected people but the queue was an endless. It was difficult to please everyone, although you can wish but how??
I have already mentioned a small child I saw in the lap of a lady journalist with a thin and only dress on her body, hanging a necktie around her throat being a part of her school uniform. That was all she was left with. That was a big confusion what to do with that child. Well some help went to her. Again I have mentioned a part of the money went for an eye operation of a girl, whose mother had savings but washed away with the sweet Tsunami. A part of the money went to a father and his little son. And a part went into the account of some victims who landed up in North part of this country. A big part of the money went for buying mobile shops or plumbing equipment or electric equipment for the affected people.
I thank you all of you for whatever you did. For me it was a big task to be fair to those people, I am glad if not everyone but few people were helped perhaps.
Virender
